Answered Prayers

안녕하세요!!!

So fun to talk to you all last Monday, it literally made my whole week!!  The good news is I will be home again before the next skype day:)

So last week I forgot to humor you all with a couple of my language mistakes.  So I was saying the word for animal the other day and then my companion informed me that I need to be careful saying it or I sound like I am saying poop water, haha.  Let’s just say I am being a bit more careful now!!  Then she said she forgot to tell me that I have been saying the word for paper wrong.  I have been saying boil  (like the disease boil) instead of paper, so I keep asking our little 11 year old investigators if they have any boils instead of asking if they have paper!! haha, oops!!  Oh, I also forgot to mention last week that I ate pigskin, ahhh!!  I had no idea but after we left our investigator's house I asked my companion and she was a little hesitant to tell me.  It actually didn't taste bad and is apparently really good for your skin.  I don't plan on eating it again though.

This week we visited our grandma that was baptized last week and they have a cute little dog who is sweet (like Zoe) but the dog and grandma HATE each other.  The grandma kept bothering the dog and it would start growling at her and then finally it bit her!!  The grandma was so mad!!  She kept trying to hit the dog, was yelling at it, and trying to show him the blood on her hand all while her husband was trying to protect the dog.  It was honestly the most hysterical moment ever.  We kept our laughter in until after we left though.  This same grandma was confirmed yesterday by her husband in sacrament meeting and it was such a sweet moment, her being baptized is going to make their family even stronger.

This week God just kept answering my prayers in all kinds of ways.  My favorite food in Korea is called Shabu Shabu.  It is basically hot pot and then you make it into spring rolls so it is delicious and fun to eat:)  I had been craving it all week but it was a little out of our missionary budget so we didn't eat it.  But then last night we went to our ward mission leader's house for dinner and his wife prepared Shabu Shabu!!  I told her she was the answer to my prayer, haha!!  God even hears our selfish prayers:)  But on a serious note...I have been thinking a lot about my testimony lately and feeling the spirit as I teach so that I can truly testify of the principles I am teaching.  I have been continually praying for the reassurance again of the truthfulness of the gospel.  On Friday we visited our recent convert and a member and shared one of my favorite hymns, I stand all amazed.  As we sang that song and I as I shared my testimony afterwards I received that reassurance and understood Jesus Christ's unending love and that He understands everything I go through.  It was such a comforting moment for me and to know that God really is listening and there to help me when I need it.

Love you and miss you all so much!!  I am so glad to be here in Korea and teaching the gospel.  My mission has brought so many amazing experiences and there are so many more to come.

Have a great week:)

Love,

Sister Jacklin

May 11, 2014 Mother's Day

Mother's Day

Hey Family!!

How was everyone's week?  We had another great week here in Cheonan:)  Our grandma investigator was baptized yesterday and it was a really spiritual baptismal service.  I don't know how much I have explained about her, she was buddhist but her children are all members and her husband was baptized about five years ago.  People have tried to get her to be baptized for a long time but recently her daughter returned from living in New Zealand and really helped give her the push to be baptized.  It was such a happy day for their family and I was so happy to be a part of it.  Can't wait until they can go to the temple all together next year.

We also spent alot of time with our investigators Sunny, Crystal, and Young (those are their english names).  Sunny is a super outgoing person and she keeps us laughing 24/7 especially cause her english is so hysterical.  This week she told us about her swimming teacher with the "triangle swimming pants" that are always "catching colors". And her running straight into them. We were laughing hysterically that night telling the other sisters the story.  I don't even think I can write all the hystericl things she says.  But the cool part is she is buddhist but is so interested about our church right now and keeps asking all kinds of questions.  She will be the greatest member someday:)  The other two women both attend other churches and last week when we were meeting them at a cafe Crystal's Pastor's wife  walked into the same cafe...awkward!!

It is almost the end of another transfer and this transfer has been one to remember.  Right now we have such great investigators.  One is a 25 year old girl we met this week;  she really opened up to us about alot of things and all we could think the whole time is that the gospel is the answer to help her through all of her problems.  I love seeing other people receive the blessing s of the gospel, I don't know what I would do without it.

Love you all and you are always in my thoughts and prayers:)

Love,

Sister Jacklin

May 5, 2014 Adventures in 천안

Adventures in 천안

안녕하세요^^

Sorry for not writing a big email the past couple weeks...things have been non-stop craziness since this transfer started.  My companion Sister Lee Jeewoo is so great and we have already had so many laughs, including making our entire clothes rack and all our clothes crash to the ground in the process of rearranging...not sure how we didn't wake the other sisters up from their nap.

This week we met up with some new investigators that the Elders met on the street last week and they are the most entertaining women I have met in a long time!  Their names are Sunny (the funniest one), Crystal, and Young (she is a bit skeptical of us right now cause she attends a different church faithfully).  Sunny's English reminds me of a very energetic Mexican woman trying to speak English.  The best is when we were planning to meet next time and she was saying she would bring something to eat; she looks at us and says,"you bring food, you die!!!" and also, "later, if my English don't improve, you die!!" hahaha, no pressure!!  But they really are great, they want a lot of help improving their English and are very interested in learning about the Church.

We had another super big miracle happen this week at English class.  There is a woman and her son who have been coming to English class for years.  I have spent the past couple months getting to know them and have made an extended effort to help them during class.  Then right before class this week she asks me if we can do the 30/30 English Gospel program and said they don't know anything about religion but want to learn.  When I asked her after class what they want to learn (talking about English) she said English idioms, about God, and how to pray.  I was in complete shock...such a huge miracle!! We will meet with them Saturday this week so I will let  you all know how it goes:)

This week is parent's day in Korea so  we made paper carnations to pin on all the parents at church yesterday.  It was super fun.  The best was the Elders attempting to make the crafts but I can't say much cause I think they did better than me.  Crafts definitely are not my thing but I am learning on my mission.  Never thought that is something I would learn.

Last night we had dinner at a members and guess what we ate???  Raw fish!!  I have never eaten just plain raw fish and I'll admit I was a bit nervous but here in Korea you just have to try everything with no fear so that is what I did with the raw fish, octopus and other crazy seafood on the table.  I am glad to say  I really liked it.  The only food I refuse to eat again is tomatoes, my companion has come up with the plan to tell everyone that I am allergic to them so half the ward thinks I am allergic to tomatoes.  Except for the awkward moment when we told that to a member and she remembered that I ate spaghetti at her house a couple months before..."I can't eat whole tomatoes but tomato sauce is okay." hahaha!!  I blame Mom and Dad for my hatred of tomatoes ㅎㅎㅎ!!

Our grandma investigator will be getting Baptized next week and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it!!  I hope you have a great week!! love you!!

Love,
