Adventures in 천안
안녕하세요^^
Sorry for
not writing a big email the past couple weeks...things have been non-stop
craziness since this transfer started. My companion Sister Lee Jeewoo is
so great and we have already had so many laughs, including making our entire
clothes rack and all our clothes crash to the ground in the process of
rearranging...not sure how we didn't wake the other sisters up from their nap.
This week
we met up with some new investigators that the Elders met on the street last
week and they are the most entertaining women I have met in a long time!
Their names are Sunny (the funniest one), Crystal, and Young (she is a bit
skeptical of us right now cause she attends a different church
faithfully). Sunny's English reminds me of a very energetic Mexican woman
trying to speak English. The best is when we were planning to meet next
time and she was saying she would bring something to eat; she looks at us and says,"you
bring food, you die!!!" and also, "later, if my English don't improve,
you die!!" hahaha, no pressure!! But they really are great, they
want a lot of help improving their English and are very interested in learning
about the Church.
We had
another super big miracle happen this week at English class. There is a
woman and her son who have been coming to English class for years. I have
spent the past couple months getting to know them and have made an extended
effort to help them during class. Then right before class this week she
asks me if we can do the 30/30 English Gospel program and said they don't know
anything about religion but want to learn. When I asked her after class
what they want to learn (talking about English) she said English idioms, about God,
and how to pray. I was in complete shock...such a huge miracle!! We will
meet with them Saturday this week so I will let you all know how it
goes:)
This week is
parent's day in Korea so we made paper carnations to pin on all the
parents at church yesterday. It was super fun. The best was the Elders attempting to make the
crafts but I can't say much cause I think they did better than me. Crafts
definitely are not my thing but I am learning on my mission. Never
thought that is something I would learn.
Last
night we had dinner at a members and guess what we ate??? Raw
fish!! I have never eaten just plain raw fish and I'll admit I was a bit
nervous but here in Korea you just have to try everything with no fear so that
is what I did with the raw fish, octopus and other crazy seafood on the
table. I am glad to say I really liked it. The only food I
refuse to eat again is tomatoes, my companion has come up with the plan to tell
everyone that I am allergic to them so half the ward thinks I am allergic to
tomatoes. Except for the awkward moment when we told that to a member and
she remembered that I ate spaghetti at her house a couple months
before..."I can't eat whole tomatoes but tomato sauce is okay."
hahaha!! I blame Mom and Dad for my hatred of tomatoes ㅎㅎㅎ!!
Our grandma
investigator will be getting Baptized next week and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it!! I hope you have a great week!! love you!!
Love,
Sister Jacklin
